Other Foot First is a '7-or-more-tet' led by percussionist and composer Joe Sorbara. Their music is scored for percussion, two guitars, and four horns; though the ensemble is often larger than this so that an improvised approach to orchestration can be employed. The ensemble deals equally with pre-composed and instantly-composed or freely improvised music, but especially with the vast terrain in between these extremes: with the wonders and challenges offered in negotiating various types and degrees of constraint and freedom as if moving through an obstacle course.

The music of Other Foot First was documented in 2010 with Sorbara playing drums and percussion, Ken Aldcroft and Nate Renner playing guitars, Jay Hay and Evan Shaw on woodwinds, Nicole Rampersaud on trumpet, and Scott Thomson on trombone. It was released, at long last, on Oval Window Records in 2016.
