other foot first is a septet composed of myself playing drums and percussion with ken aldcroft and thom gill on guitars, evan shaw and chris willes on saxophones, and ronda rindone and scott thomson on bass clarinet and trombone respectively.

the odd instrumentation is often two quartets sharing a percussionist, but the number of ways of conceptualising this combination of sounds seems endless and every time i sit down to write music for other foot first i do so with a smile on my face and a swirling mess of ideas in my brain.

those ideas i've managed to get down on paper are now being turned in to real music more and more often. i hope to get this group playing more frequently in the coming months so that we can document this music sometime in the new year. if you see a notice that we're playing somewhere, please come and lend us your ears. i'd love to hear what you think.
