Jared Burrows is a guitarist, composer, and educator in Vancouver, BC, Canada. His music draws upon jazz, free improvisation, and European concert music, and is influenced by his work with traditional musicians from China, Ghana, Indian, and Iran. Jared's musical life is centered on long-term collaborations and explorations with brilliant musicians from diverse traditions including: Curtis Andrews, Clyde Reed, Amir Eslami, Len Aruliah, Kenton Loewen, Nick Peck, Joe Poole, Vidyasagar Vankayala, Bruce Feredman, Dave Robbins, Brad Muirhead, François Houle, Blaine Wikjord, Lorne Kellett, Al Johnston, Kofi Gbolonyo, and Joe Sorbara. He teaches at Capilano University. Recent career highlights include several concerts and recordings with with legendary Los Angeles reed player, Vinny Golia. As a part of Curtis Andrews' projects, Jared has been fortunate to tour and record with renowned carnatic musicians, Flute Raman and mrdangam maestro, Sri Trichy Sankaran.



Clarinetist François Houle has established himself as one of today’s most inventive musicians, in all of the diverse musical spheres he embraces. Inspired by collaborations with the world’s top musical innovators, François has developed a unique improvisational language, virtuosic and rich with sonic embellishment and technical extensions. He has worked with Dave Douglas, Mark Dresser, Joëlle Léandre, Benoît Delbecq, Evan Parker, Samuel Blaser, Gerry Hemingway, Marilyn Crispell, Myra Melford, René Lussier, Alexander Hawkins, John Butcher, Kris Davis, Georg Graewe, Håvard Wiik, Guillermo Gregorio, Eyvind Kang, Hasse Poulsen, and many of Canada and the International scene’s top creative music artists. His extensive touring has led to solo appearances at major festivals across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia. A prolific recording artist, he has released over twenty recordings as a leader, earning multiple Juno Award and West Coast Music Award nominations. He is the founder of Afterday Audio, a record label dedicated to the documentation and dissemination of his many musical projects and collaborations. In addition, he has appeared on numerous recordings on the Songlines, Red Toucan, Leo Records, Drip Audio, PSI, Between-the-Lines, Nuscope, Spool, hatART, Redshift, CRI, among others. François has been listed on numerous occasions in Downbeat magazine’s Readers and Critics’ Polls as “Talent Deserving Wider Recognition” and “Rising Star”.



Canadian drummer and percussionist Joe Sorbara has spent decades developing a reputation as a dedicated and imaginative performer, composer, improviser, collaborator, organiser, listener, writer, and educator. A consummate sonic adventurer, Sorbara’s music draws on a vast array of influences, most notably the African American Creative Music tradition. They have performed and recorded with Ken Aldcroft, Anthony Braxton, Jared Burrows, Nikita Carter, Marilyn Crispell, Christine Duncan, Paul Dutton, Friendly Rich, Hafez Modirzadeh, Evan Parker, William Parker, Allen Ravenstine, Clyde Reed, and Bry Webb, among many many others. Their own projects include a sextet featuring Ted Crosby, Tania Gill, Rebbecca Hennessy, Michael Herring, and Aline Homzy. Collaborations include duo projects with Norman Adams, François Houle (SoHo), Jonathan Kay (The Rest), Thollem McDonas, and Steve Sladkowski, as well as groups Never Was (with Brandon Davis, Bea Labikova, and Patrick O'Reilly); Carry On - Continuing from the End (with Matthias Mainz and angela snæfellsjökuls rawlings); Alien Radio (with François Houle and James Meger); the large international new music ensemble, Aurealities (with Lina Allemano, Christine Duncan, Anil Eraslan, Matthias Mainz, Albrecht Maurer, Tom Richards, Samuel Stoll, Laura Swankey, Chris Tonelli, and Emily Wittbrodt); and the Imaginary Percussion Ensemble (with Germaine Liu and Mark Zurawinski).
