Following on from his first album 'Centripede' to 'Squash Recipe' and it is evident that Tom Arthurs is still evolving. This transatlantic trio, born at the Banff Arts Centre in Canada while swapping recipes and sharing slices of an endearing chocolate courgette cake consists of Arthurs, Toronto drummer Joe Sorbara and New York pianist Bruce McKinnon.

Throughout the album there is a sense of an egalitarian collaboration with tracks produced by all participants coupled with an undoubtedly strong band chemistry and a depth in playing style. The conversation engaged between all three artists lends itself to this and personalises a group, which grows and develops together.

'Overwrought', the opening track gives dazzling proof of a musical skill that effortlessly works in harmony to produce a flowing, sophisticated modern jazz sound. Through to the final track, 'P2C2E' there is collective improvisation, rhythmic piano, soft percussion and bursts of Arthur's spontaneity, which leave the listener wanting more.

Mastery in modern jazz and maturity in expression from a driven and inspirational trio who fuse with exciting direction. The future looks bright and full of surprises.
